Ohio man pulls knife on homeowner

CUMBERLAND - An Ohio man was arrested on assault charges after reportedly threatening a local homeowner with a knife, according to Cumberland Police.

Lawrence L. Lewis, 61, of Mayfield Heights was arrested for reckless endangerment and first- and second-degree assault after the incident in the 600 block of Elm Street.

At 12:42 a.m., the homeowner reportedly confronted people who were allegedly causing a disturbance outside the Elm Street residence. Lewis pulled a knife on the homeowner and threatened to stab him, police said.

Cumberland Police officers located Lewis and reportedly found a knife on him fitting the description provided by the resident.

Lewis was taken for an initial district court appearance and was released after posting a bond of $3,000.

Cumberland man arrested for assault

CUMBERLAND - A fight between two brothers led to the arrest of one of them Tuesday night, according to Cumberland Police.

Patrick K. Conners Jr., 18, of Columbia Avenue was arrested on a second-degree assault charge.

Conners and his brother reportedly become involved in a verbal altercation, and during this, Conners allegedly hit his brother several times, causing slight injury.

Conners was taken for an initial appearance at district court and was being held Wednesday on a $5,000 bond.

Alcohol likely factor in Pa. vehicle crash

MIDDLE CREEK, Pa. - A Somerset man was injured after a single-vehicle accident on Copper Kettle Highway Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Jamie K. Sekerak, 46, was transported to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown following the 6:53 p.m. crash.

Sekerak was driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee and reportedly ran into a tree, state police said. The vehicle caught fire, and was extinguished by the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Police said Sekerak failed field sobriety tests, which may have contributed to the accident.
