ROCKY GAP -- Dozens of area residents, veterans, local and state political leaders attended the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap State Park.
Fred Shinbur, chairman of the Maryland Veterans Commission, was the keynote speaker during the ceremony of remembrance. The Ali Ghan Shrine Band played the National Anthem and Ronald B. Platt. cemetery superintendent, led the pledge of allegiance. Charles Griffith, American Legion Mountain District chaplain, gave the invocation.
Taps was played by the American Legion Post 13 Veteran Honor Guard, which also retired the colors at the end of the ceremony.
