Mineral school board to meet Tuesday

KEYSER, W.Va. — Members of the Mineral County Board of Education will hear an update on Keyser High School fundraising at Tuesday’s public meeting at 6 p.m. in the Administrative Office at 1 Baker Place.

The board will also name a new school counselor who will serve Burlington, Elk Garden, New Creek and Fountain primary schools.

Other agenda topics include consideration of a school levy order and possible action on a proposal from Energy Systems Group and other lease/purchase options.

The board will enter into executive session at 6: 45 p.m. to conduct a student expulsion hearing.



Secondary schools study group to meet

CRESAPTOWN — The Community Resource Committee for the Utilization Study of Secondary Schools in Cumberland will hold its first meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Career Center auditorium.



Planners to review maps Wednesday

CUMBERLAND — Allegany County Planning and Zoning Commission members will vote on acceptance of land-use maps for the Upper Potomac and Georges Creek regions when they meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room 100 of the County Office Complex on Kelly Road.

Draft maps for Wills Creek and Jennings Run will be presented.

Members will also hear a subdivision variance request from Matt Brewer.



Teal Steel to perform Christmas concert

LAVALE — The Teal Steel Band from Frankfort Middle School, Short Gap, W.Va., will help bring Santa to the Country Club Mall on Thursday. The band will perform a Christmas concert at 6 p.m.

The Frankfort Middle School PTO also will host a Spirit Night from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Chick-Fil-A. A donation to the PTO will be made for each patron mentioning the school. Spirit Night cards also are available at the school office or by calling (304) 726-7260.
