S. Cumberland association meets

CUMBERLAND — Members of the South Cumberland Business Association started their November meeting with a moment of silence for member Catherine Penrod, who died suddenly within the last month.

Mary Beth Pirolozzi was introduced as a new member.

Volunteers signed up as bell ringers for the Salvation Army in front of Ollie’s.

Halloween Parade chairwoman Marsha Thomas reported on this year’s event and introduced volunteers who helped.

The meeting was attended by 69 members, including Sandy Cowan, a member of the Outdoor Club, where the association now meets. Cowan promised to check on the status of the elevator at the club once a week. Club president Roger Mullenax said the elevator has not been approved by the state inspector due to a problem with an underground spring.

If the second floor is accessible next month, the Lady Birds will provide entertainment for the Christmas meeting, to be held Dec. 13.
