Public safety officers receive awards in ACM ceremony

Criminal justice students also honored Monday

— CUMBERLAND — Local law enforcement and correctional agencies honored their top employees during the 2011 Public Safety Awards Ceremony held Monday evening at Allegany College of Maryland.

Lisa Hoston of the ACM Criminal Justice Program presented the Outstanding Student Award to Daylynnda L. Teminakasa and Brittini N. McFarland, and the Victor Reuschlein Award to Derrick Pirolozzi and Jill Hoffman.                             

Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson recognized Paul N. Fuller as Correctional Officer of the Year.

Cumberland Police Charles Hinnant presented the Officer of the Year award to Pfc. Daniel Seaman.

Frostburg State University Police Chief Cynthia R. Smith honored Cpl. Mike Ruppen-kamp with the Police Explorer Program award; Bridget Yates with Police Communications Operator Award; and Karen Clark, administrative assistant, as Outstanding Civilian Em-ployee.

North Branch Correctional Institution awards were presented by Warden Bobby P. Shearin: Employee of the Year, David J. Barnhart; Support Staff of the Year, Laura M. Moulden; Correctional Officer of the Year, Sgt. Leah A. Youngblood; Correctional Supervisor of the Year, Lt. Jason L. Harbaugh; Support Supervisor of the Year, Lt. Jeffery W. Haggard; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 7-3, Sgt. Robert Werner; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 3-11, Wilma Padfield; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 11-7, Sgt. Sean McKenzie.

Warden Philip Morgan presented Western Correctional Institution awards: Employee of the Year, Joseph W. Perkins; Correctional Officer of the Year, Jeffrey A. Imes; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 8-4, Sgt. John H. Frazee; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 4-12, Homer E. Fike; Correctional Officer of the Shift, 12-8, Sgt. Owen K. Berry.

A Special Recognition Award was presented by Jeff Nines on behalf of the WCI Toy Project: Recognition of Exceptional Community Support, Neil Le-Put, 84 Lumber; Recognition of Continued Dedication, Richard Roderick, NBCI; Mike Bennett, WCI; Debra Kisamore, WCI; and Denny Patterson, WCI.
