Bob Smith recipient of Dapper Dan civic award

— CUMBERLAND — Bob Smith, vice president and general manager of Allegany Aggregates, will be honored with this year’s Henrietta Schwarzenbach Civic Service Award at the 65th Annual Dapper Dan Awards Banquet on Jan. 27 at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club.

Smith serves as president of the Cumberland/Allegany County In-dustrial Foundation and is chairman of the Mountain Maryland PACE Committee. He is on the board of directors of the Allegany College of Maryland Foundation, Tri-County Council, Canal Place Preservation & Development Auth-ority and is a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine director’s staff.

A past president of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce and Cumberland Rotary Club, he also served on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and Boy Scouts of America Potomac Council boards.

Smith is past potentate of the Ali Ghan Shrine and past director of the Royal Order of the Jesters.

A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, he is the father of daughters Stacy Dowd, Jade Folk and Jamie Smith and has three grandchildren.
