OAKLAND — GCC Technologies, LLC received a $10.4 million contract award from the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division located at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, according to a news release. The three-year contract is to provide for administrative, clerical and guard service to the program offices at the Naval Air Station, according to Jim Bailey, president of GCC.
Last spring the county sold the Maryland Economic Development Corp. building, located at the Southern Garrett Business and Technology Park, to GCC for $1.15 million. The 30,000-square foot building was sold for the same price paid by the county when it purchased the building from MEDCo in December 2011. GCC purchased the building with funding provided by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.
GCC Tech begin in 2007 on the Garrett College campus with 17 employees and has since grown to more than 200 employees, with 100 from the county, former Director of Economic Development Jim Hinebaugh said during a county commission meeting.
GCC provides a wide range of technical and support services, including information technology, acquisition management, contract management, program management, training, studies and analysis and administrative support, according to Hinebaugh.
GCC also provides support to the Social Security Administration in Baltimore as well as the U.S. Navy at Carderock, according to the news release.
