Vehicle accident kills Garrett man

GRANTSVILLE —  A Grantsville man was killed following a single-vehicle accident on state Route 495 near Interstate 68 on Saturday.

Roy Holliday, 31, died at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after being flown there by Trooper 5, a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, following the 7:30 p.m. accident that occurred about half a mile south of the interstate. He was thrown from the vehicle, according to an emailed news release from Maryland State Police.

State police were assisted by the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad and the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The investigation is ongoing. Route 495 was closed for about two hours.
