FRIENDSVILLE — Two people were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., after a tractor-trailer loaded with fertilizer traveled out of control and overturned into a stream along Trap Run Road late Monday afternoon.
Maryland State Police said the 4:11 p.m. crash sent 48-year-old Allison Robinson of Oakland to the hospital along with an unidentified male passenger of the rig owned by Larry Wagoner Trucking of Oakland.
Both patients reportedly suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
The rig was loaded with 40,000 pounds of fertilizer contained in bags. The road was closed for several hours until the rig and cargo were removed along with 200 gallons of diesel fuel in the tractor.
Northern Garrett Rescue Squad, Friendsville and Deep Creek volunteer fire departments, Garrett County Hazardous Incident Response Team, Garrett County Roads Department and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division personnel of state police also responded.
The Garrett County emergency management director, John Frank, was on the scene of the accident, which remains under investigation.
