Black Everyday: Animal shelter promotion features black cats, dogs

CUMBERLAND — With Black Friday soon approaching, the Allegany County Animal Shelter has declared Black Everyday during the month of November.

Celebrating the second anniversary of a “shelter of hope” policy, all black cats and dogs may be adopted during November for only $2 each.

All other colors may be adopted for just $20.12. Most of the adoptable animals have been microchipped and are up-to-date on shots. Many of the animals have been spayed or neutered.

“We have so many wonderful animals that need to find a home and a family,” said shelter director Karl Brubaker. “Black November is our way of promoting, and hopefully adopting out, many of our animals.”

Adoptable shelter animals can be seen at www.petango.com/ashelterofhope or by visiting the shelter located at 716 Furnace St.

Shelter hours are weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
