One contested race on Frostburg ballot

FROSTBURG — When Frostburg voters go to the polls June 3, they will elect a new commissioner of public works.

Roger E. DeWitt and Woody Getz both filed as candidates to fill the seat being vacated by Dennis Bridges.

The deadline for candidates to file was May 5.

All other candidates are incumbents who are running unopposed. Mayor    W. Robert Flanigan will be joined on the ballot by  Commissioner of Finance Donald L. Carter, Commissioner of Public Safety Bill Mackay and Commissioner of Water, Parks and Recreation Brian Alderton.

 

Road closed for paving Wednesday

WESTERNPORT — Lincoln Drive will be closed for paving Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Alternate streets to be used are Oakview, Philos and Ross.

 

Mayor, council hold multiple meetings

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland mayor and City Council will hold their regular meeting May 6 at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall.

At 4 p.m., they will participate in the Economic Development Strategic Plan kickoff. At 5 p.m., they will meet in closed session to consult with staff regarding litigation filed by the International Association of Firefighters and the Adams Family Funeral Home and for discussion of a contract proposal for 19 Frederick St.
