Hampshire animal control officer indicted on drug charges

— ROMNEY, W.Va. — Animal Control Officer Debra Kay Shamburg, 49, was recently indicted by a Hampshire County grand jury for three counts of obtaining possession of a controlled substance through misrepresentation.

Shamburg has been arraigned on those charges and waived her right to a speedy trial, according to Prosecuting Attorney Dan James. Shamburg was one of 10 indictments presented to the grand jury.

She is being represented by Kevin Mills of Kevin D. Mills and Associates, Martinsburg.

Shamburg was arrested in July and was held at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta on $10,500 bond, according to jail records. She is no longer listed as an inmate.
