Oakland man dies in tree trimming accident

Victim comes in contact with electric line

BITTINGER (AP) — Maryland State Police said a man trimming trees in Garrett County was electrocuted Monday.

Troopers said about noon, 28-year-old Brian K. DeBerry Jr. of Oakland was working for a tree-trimming company in Bittinger. Authorities said DeBerry was cutting trees on private property and had climbed a tree to cut limbs.

Police said DeBerry came in contact with a live overhead electrical line. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
