WILEY FORD, W.Va. — The Potomac Highlands Airport Authority voted unanimously on Thursday to send letters to U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Benjamin Cardin to clarify language in the Federal Aviation Administration grant as it pertains to the autocross.
In November, the authority sent a letter to National Road Autosport stating that the Federal Aviation Administration made it clear that autosport events at the airport contravenes funding criteria laid down by the FAA.
“If it’s not related to aviation then it can’t happen,” said Airport Manager Ryan Shaffer, who further noted that if the FAA guidelines weren’t followed, the authority wouldn’t get the grant for runway rehabilitation.
