Police officers train in Meyersdale

MEYERSDALE, Pa. — More than 35 law enforcement officers from 15 police departments are participating in a two-day specialized training session hosted by the Somerset County Department of Emergency Services.

The sessions began Tuesday and are being held at the Meyersdale Area School District in Meyersdale. Besides seeing an increased police presence in the area, residents may also hear scanner activity related to the training sessions.

 

Garrett to honor Most Beautiful Person

OAKLAND — The 2014 Garrett County’s Most Beautiful Person contest is accepting nominations until Aug. 29. The  contest is for those who have enriched the lives of citizens by their acts of kindness and concern.   

Awards are based on volunteer service only.

This is the 28th year of this program, which is hosted by the Board of Garrett County Commissioners.
