Bedford County man shot, another jailed

BEDFORD, Pa. — An Everett man was wounded and another jailed following a neighborhood dispute Monday afternoon, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Jeffrey Sheeder, 24, was struck in the hand when 45-year-old William Maenner fired several shots at him from a handgun in the victim’s residence at 1518 Ashcom Road in West Providence Township, police said.

No information was provided concerning the extent of injuries to the victim or the medical care that may have been provided following the 2 p.m. incident.

State police responding to the incident that began as a verbal altercation arrested Maenner at the scene without incident on charges of attempted homicide, burglary, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and other offenses.

Following arraignment before Magisterial District Justice Tonya Osman, Maenner was jailed at the Bedford County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Police said the argument escalated when Maenner grabbed a shotgun from his apartment and fired one shot away from the residence.

The victim wrested the shotgun away from the accused before Maenner  retrieved a loaded handgun from his own residence, allegedly kicked in the victim’s door  and shot at the victim several times.

One of the bullets reportedly struck the victim in the hand. It was not known if he was taken to a hospital.
