Another bear struck, killed

On Interstate 68 at Lower New Germany Road

AVILTON — The Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service reports that a 44-pound female bear cub was struck and killed on Interstate 68 on Thursday near the Lower New Germany Road exit in Garrett County.

That makes 23 bears that have died on the state's roads so far this year, according to an unofficial count maintained by the Cumberland Times-News.
