Fathers swim        for free Sunday

CUMBERLAND — Constitution Park Pool will honor fathers on Father’s Day with free admission when accompanied by their children. There will be several drawings and a few activities throughout the day.

The pool will also offer swim lessons from 11 to 11:40 a.m. weekdays starting June 17. The fee for lessons is $1 per day for city residents.

Regular pool hours are noon to 7 p.m.

Campground area closed for the day

LITTLEā€ˆORLEANS — The campground area at 15 Mile Creek, located at mile marker 140.90 of the C&O Canal National Historical Park, will be closed to vehicular traffic June 17 for blacktop paving.

The closure includes the campground and boat ramp access road and adjoining parking area. Vehicles must vacate the campground area by 6 a.m. Boaters can use the boat ramps at Hancock or Bond’s Landing for the day.

Power line safety training offered

CUMBERLAND — Safety training for people who deal with high voltage power lines will be held at the Allegany County Office Complex on July 24 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This is a free one-time event to be held in the Roads Division parking lot.

The training is open to public and private sector workers, construction companies, tree-trimmers, fire and rescue groups, law enforcement, maintenance personnel, safety directors, risk managers and the general public.

Pepco Holdings Inc., one of the largest energy delivery companies in the mid-Atlantic Region, will provide the training.
