N.Y. man hurt in fall from Gunter Hotel

Victim on third-floor balcony

FROSTBURG — A 53-year-old New York man was found unconscious on Main Street late Monday after he apparently fell from the third-floor balcony area of the Gunter Hotel, according to the Frostburg Police Department.

Timothy B. Fiske of Chenango was unconscious when he was found lying on the sidewalk at about 11:50 p.m.

Fiske was taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Frostburg Area Ambulance Service. He was admitted to the hospital but his medical condition was not available.

Frostburg Police said that witnesses indicated Fiske climbed over the railing on the balcony and was walking along the outside wall when he lost his balance. He fell approximately 40 feet from the third floor onto an overhead awning and then to the sidewalk.

Police said alcohol may have contributed to the accident.

Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department also responded upon alert by the Allegany County 911 Center.
