Historian part of Oldtown festival

OLDTOWN — Glenn F. Williams, author and historian, will join the Frontier Forum at the Michael Cresap Museum on June 22 during the annual Oldtown Summer Fest.

Williams is the author of “Year of the Hangman, George Washington’s Campaign Against the Iroquois,” which won the Thomas Fleming Award for the best book in American Revolutionary War history.

A senior historian at the U.S. Army Center of Military History, Williams and his work embrace the role of Michael Cresap and Oldtown in the historic period.

Williams will talk about his forthcoming book on Dunmore’s War, which has won the 2013 book award from the Society of Colonial Wars.

The Oldtown Summer Fest will feature a wide variety of food, music, entertainment and historic tours. For times and details of the frontier forum, call 301-478-5848.
