Pharmacy robbed of narcotics

Suspect demands employee in Westernport fill backpack with drugs

WESTERNPORT — Police continue to look for a male suspect who robbed the Tri-Towns Pharmacy in Westernport of narcotics Thursday afternoon, according to C3I.

At about 4:30 p.m., the suspect reportedly approached the counter of the Main Street pharmacy, handed an employee a black backpack and demanded that it be filled with narcotics.

The suspect appeared to have a handgun in the waistband of his pants. The employee complied with the demand and gave him the backpack. The suspect then left the building and ran.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded. With the assistance of the Maryland State Police, a trained dog and its handler from the Maryland Natural Resources Police, and Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, a search of the area was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect was described as a white male of thin build about 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing an orange fleece jacket, baggy blue jeans, white sunglasses, black mask and gloves.

They may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 for information that leads to an arrest.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and C3I are continuing the investigation.
