CUMBERLAND — Allegany County commissioners have agreed to a $105,000 per year contract with David Eberly, the county administrator.
The contract will run for three years beginning on July 1 and ending June 30, 2016.
Eberly will also be eligible for raises as a civil servant equivalent to other county employees at the rate of three percent per year, said Brian Westfall, director of human resources for the county.
“Mr. Eberly has been a true blessing to me as a commissioner. He has proven to be a true asset to the county and the three commissioners. We appreciate his commitment to hard work and the support he provides the county staff,” said County Commission President Michael McKay.
Westfall said Eberly directed that his increase be no more than the average increase for all employees. That should be about $1,300 dollars a year, Westfall said. Eberly was appointed County Administrator in January 2010. Eberly also served in an acting capacity for an 18-month period prior to January 2010, according to county records.
The decision on Eberly’s contract took place during the commission’s regular Thursday business meeting at county offices on Kelly Road.
Commissioners also agreed to a request by Sheriff Craig Robertson to approve a contract with CONMED Inc., to provide medical services at the county detention center.
The $928,432.68 contract will run from July 1 to June 30, 2014, a 1.5 percent increase from last year. Robertson said he negotiated a reduction from a proposed 2.5 percent increase.
Last year’s contract was for $914,712. CONMED began its contracts with the county in 2003. CONMED, of Hanover, specializes in providing health-care services to correctional facilities.
“We have passed every audit since the company’s inception in 1984, including those of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, the American Correctional Association and all state audits where we provide services,” the company says on its website.
The company’s stock is publicly traded and listed on the New York Stock Exchange AMEX as CONM.
In other business, commissioners appointed Terry Michels of Flintstone and Dinah Searles of LaVale to the Allegany County library System board of trustees. Their terms will expire on June 30, 2018.
