Frostburg groups to pitch plans for hotel tax revenue

— FROSTBURG — The Frostburg mayor and council will hear requests from groups interested in getting a share of hotel/motel tax revenue during today’s public meeting at 7 p.m. at the Frostburg Community Center.

City staff will present a proposed amendment to the rental housing code and a list of preferred species of street trees.

Other agenda items include approval of a job description in the Parks and Recreation Department and easement agreements for the Savage raw water and energy conservation project.

Chris Werner will give a presentation on the Shamrock Shuffle to be held March 9 with Irish food, drinks and entertainment offered by area businesses.

City employees Kevin Grove and James Sweitzer will be recognized for their years of service.

The city will report on a closed executive session that was held Monday.

Officials will also approve the first reading of an ordinance for general obligation installment bonds and will set March 21 as the date for a public hearing on the matter.

A special neighborhood meeting on Alley 24 recommendations will be scheduled March 6 at 5 p.m. at the Lyric Theater building.
