Sewage overflow at Deep Creek Lake
MCHENRY — An overflow of sanitary sewage occurred Friday at the McHenry sewage holding tank at the intersection of Deep Creek Drive and Town Center Drive, according to the Garrett County Department of Public Utilities.
Approximately 36,000 gallons of domestic wastewater entered a nearby stream that flows into Deep Creek Lake at the northwestern end of Marsh Run Cove. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has placed warning buoys in the area and affected properties have been posted.
Water sampling and testing will continue. Fishing and swimming in the area should be avoided until the restriction is lifted. Questions may be directed to 301-334-6983.
Keyser Democrats to meet Tuesday
KEYSER, W.Va. — Mineral County Democrats will meet Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mineral County Health Department.
The meeting is open to all Democrats and Independents.
