Where it hurts

Facilitator Julie O’Connor of Kick Masters Karate demonstrates a maneuver using her knee on instructor Brian Blocher Monday afternoon in the Frankfort High School gymnasium. Senior girls took part in a Self-Defense For Women class, in which the students learned strikes and kicks and areas of the body to target in case they are attacked. Participants also learned how everyday items such as a comb or pencil can serve as possible weapons to fend off an assailant and how to reduce the risk of an assault.
