Fort shooting

Local photographer John Bone takes images of a model of Fort Cumberland last week at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland. The model was constructed with all natural materials by the Maryland National Guard in the 1980s with help from Gary Bartik, president of the Allegany Museum. Following its completion, the 14- by 6-foot model was donated to the church, which rests on the site of the wood-constructed fort. The photographs will be used as the museum builds a new website offering more detail about the county’s Colonial period, in addition to highlighting key areas of local history.
