— Firefighters and the Maryland Department of the Environment were called a “rather large oil spill” Thursday morning at University Drive and Midlothian Road by the Allegany County 911 Center. Members of the Allegany County Hazardous Incident Response Team were able to stop the fuel from spreading while waiting for MDE to arrive for cleanup and investigation, according to Roger Bennett, 911 Joint Communications Division director. Responders suspected that an unknown truck accidentally dumped fuel from its tank into the storm water management drain on Braddock Road. The incident was reported to 911 at 9:14 a.m. Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department cleared the scene at around 11 a.m. but was expected to return to support MDE. The haz-mat team was on the scene for three hours.
