PRINCESS ANNE (AP) — Some Maryland residents affected by Superstorm Sandy will be eligible to receive food stamps under a federal aid program.
The assistance for residents of Somerset County was announced Sunday by Gov. Martin O’Malley and Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin.
President Barack Obama this month designated the county as a major disaster area eligible for assistance.
The aid is provided under the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which provides food stamps for households hit by natural disasters.
