Garrett board sets work session

MCHENRY — The Garrett County Board of Education will hold a work session to review and revise a policy that deals with mission and vision of the superintendent of schools. The meeting will take place in the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce office on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The board reserves the right to go into executive session as needed.


Ridgeley candidates can file Monday

RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Candidates for Ridgeley mayor and City Council can file their applications beginning Monday through Jan. 26 at Town Hall.

All five council seats and the mayor position will be on the ballot for the June 11 election. Town Hall is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Alley closed for gas main installation

CUMBERLAND — The alley between West Union Street and the exit of the Center City Parking Garage will be closed from 7 a.m. today through 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cumberland Engineering Department on behalf of Columbia Gas of Maryland and its contractor, Northern Pipeline.

Traffic exiting the parking garage will turn left onto West Harrison Street for the duration. This will allow a new gas main to be installed in the alley.

Charter school meeting Jan. 15

OAKLAND — The Garrett County Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Southern Middle School cafeteria to entertain public comment on the proposed charter school, Riverside Academy, which would be located in Kitzmiller.

In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held Jan. 22 at the same time and place.
