Bruceton Mills woman jailed in slaying of her husband

Body found in couple’s home, reportedly hidden in bathroom

BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — A Bruceton Mills woman remained jailed Thursday on a half-million dollar bond after she was arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing her husband.

Nicole Knotts, 23, remained jailed at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail after she was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her husband, Matthew L. Knotts.

The victim’s body was found Tuesday in the couple’s home on Ruth Farm Road. The body was reportedly hidden in a bathroom under clothes and other household items, according to media reports.

Matthew Knotts was officially reported missing to police on Monday. His mother said she was not able to contact her son since March 7 and that he had been absent from work for weeks.

The arrest was made following an investigation that began Monday by West Virginia State Police.
