Keyser, Ridgeley, Mineral school board OK levy rates

KEYSER, W.Va. — The Keyser City Council, the Mineral County Board of Education and the Ridgeley Town Council all voted Tuesday to approve levy rates for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014.

The regular current expense levy and the street excess levy rates in Keyser haven’t changed, according to Shannon Marsh, city administrator. The current expense levy and excess levy rates for the Mineral County Board of Education haven’t changed, according to Denise Bruno, executive secretary to the superintendent. In Ridgeley, the current expense levy rates have gone down, according to Renee Martz, town clerk.  

The regular current expense levy rates for Keyser are: Class II rate is 25 cents per $100 of the assessed value; Class IV is 50 cents per $100 of the assessed value. The excess levy rates are: Class II is 12.50 cents per $100 of the assessed value; Class IV, 25 cents per $100 of the assessed value. The net amount to be raised by the levy of property taxes is $385,591 and the excess levy is $197,729.

The regular current expense levy rates for the board are: Class II rate is 38.80 cents per $100 of the assessed value; Class III and IV rates are 77.60 cents per $100 of the assessed value. The excess levy rates for the board are: Class II 45.90 cents per $100 of the assessed value; Class III and IV are 91.80 cents per $100 of the assessed value.

The regular current expense levy rates for Ridgeley are: Class II is 24.96 cents per $100 of the assessed value; Class IV is 49.92 cents per $100 of the assessed value. The net amount to be raised by the levy of property taxes is $47,258.
