Blaze destroys Potomac Park home

Numerous fire companies answer call on Iris Avenue

— POTOMAC PARK — Numerous volunteer fire companies were dispatched to a structure fire in the 11900 block of Iris Avenue in the Potomac Park area early Monday afternoon.

Within minutes of the 1:15 p.m. alert, the fire had spread to a second residence, according to the Allegany County 911 center.

No injuries were reported an hour into the fire operation, according to the emergency center.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene of the two-alarm fire along with the Allegany County Fire Police.

Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department was in charge of the fire operation.

Assistance was being provided by LaVale, Bedford Road, Corriganville, District 16, Cresaptown, Bowman’s Addition, Frostburg, Shaft, Mount Savage, Midland, Rawlings, Ridgeley and Short Gap volunteer fire departments.

Frostburg Area Ambulance and LaVale Rescue Squad also responded upon alert by the Allegany County 911 center.
