Elk Garden home destroyed by fire - 02/27

ELK GARDEN, W.Va. — No injuries were reported when an apparent electrical fire destroyed an Elk Garden area residence late Monday, according to the Mineral County 911 center.

Initial calls to the emergency center at 9:36 p.m. indicated an electrical fire had occurred in a bathroom of the residence, located on U.S. Route 50, about one-fourth mile west of state Route 42.

No information was available concerning the occupancy and ownership of the residence.

The victims were being provided emergency assistance by the American Red Cross, according to the 911 center.

Elk District fire and ambulance volunteers and volunteer firefighters from Keyser, New Creek, Piedmont, Mount Storm and Bloomington responded. Traffic was controlled by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.

Units cleared the scene at about 2 a.m.
