Volunteer award nominees sought

CUMBERLAND —  The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism is accepting nominations for the 2013 Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards. For nearly 30 years, the awards have recognized the significant contributions of residents to the life and health of the state and its people.

Nominations should represent outstanding volunteer service that occurred in 2012, unless competing for a lifetime achievement award.

Service must be performed outside of the nominee’s employment and those who have been awarded since 2008 are ineligible for consideration. Applications will be accepted for individual youth, adult, older adult, lifetime achievement and national achievement and groups for profit, faith-based, nonprofit, youth, adult and older adult. Rules and nomination forms are available at Deadline is June 3 at 5 p.m.
