Garrett man dies in Route 42 crash

MCHENRY — An Accident man was fatally injured late Wednesday when his pickup truck traveled off state Route 42 and down a steep embankment where he was ejected from the vehicle, according to Maryland State Police.

Carlon David Doerr, 47, was killed in the 11:57 p.m. crash in which his 2004 Chevrolet truck traveled off the roadway and came to rest 83 feet down a steep embankment.

No one was found in the vehicle when first responders arrived. An immediate search of the area located Doerr another 50 feet down the mountain, police said.

The exact cause of the crash is not yet known and remains under investigation by Tfc. D. Diehl, an accident reconstruction specialist, with assistance of Senior Trooper K. Whitaker.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the state police barrack at McHenry at 301-387-1101.

  • Commissioners set to vote on plan

    CUMBERLAND — Allegany County commissioners are scheduled Thursday to vote on the 266-page, 2014 Allegany County Comprehensive Plan. The portion of the plan that has stirred some controversy is the inclusion of the Terrapin Run Development. If commissioners approve the plan, the development will be an official part of the county’s land use development plan for the future.
