McCoole services topic of meeting

MCCOOLE — The Allegany County Emergency Services Board will have a public meeting June 5 at 7 p.m. at the McCoole Cornerstone Ministries Church to solicit input from community members about fire protection services in the area, according to Richard DeVore, director of the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services.

The county placed the McCoole Volunteer Fire De-partment out of service in April due to concerns with the department being nearly a million dollars in debt and other issues. County officials will develop a long-term plan to address the situation, including the possibility of a county substation at McCoole.

Potomac, Rawlings and Keyser fire companies have been providing emergency services in the area since then.
