CUMBERLAND — A city man found deceased as a result of an apparent stab wound early Tuesday in a Davison Street residence has been identified as 30-year-old Chad Dylan Robinette of Cumberland, according to the C3I Unit.
Cumberland Police responded to a Davidson Street address in Cumberland at 2:56 a.m. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located the victim’s body in the front room of the residence just inside the front door.
The residence was secured, and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit was requested to respond to assist in the investigation.
Initial examination of the body by investigators and a forensic investigator with the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed a single puncture wound in the victim’s upper chest. There was no other, obvious sign of trauma to the body.
The scene was processed for evidence by evidence collection technicians with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.
A knife with blood on it was recovered and is believed to be the instrument that caused the puncture wound to the victim. Other evidence recovered from the scene is being forwarded to the Maryland State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
The victim’s body was sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The results are pending.
Investigators with C3I interviewed four people who were present in the residence at the time the body was discovered. Additional witnesses are also being interviewed as part of the investigation.
