Frostburg paving project to begin

FROSTBURG — The city of Frostburg will be paving Center Street starting Sept. 9 through 13, weather permitting.

Detour signs will be provided and Center Street will be closed to all bus and truck traffic from College Avenue to Mechanic Street.

Mineral Democrats to meet Tuesday

KEYSER, W.Va. — The Mineral County Democrats will meet Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mineral County Health Department.

The meeting is open to all Democrats and Independents.

Economic group to hold special meeting

KEYSER, W.Va. — The Mineral County Development Authority will hold a special meeting Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. to review the executive director’s evaluation. After discussing the evaluation pro-cess, members will vote to go into executive session to review the evaluation.

They will then return to open session for possible action.

Mini-marina public hearing Sept. 24

OAKLAND — The Garrett County commissioners will conduct a public hearing Sept. 24 to review a petition submitted by Bill Meagher to amend the Deep Creek Watershed zoning ordinance to include a new category of use for boat rentals not offering any services associated with a marina.

 In July, the Garrett County Planning Commission voted to recommend that county commissioners endorse Meagher’s petition.

The public hearing will take place at 5 p.m. in Room 203 of the courthouse.  

5K race to benefit family services

KEYSER, W.Va. — Burlington United Methodist Family Services 5K Apple Stomp Race is set for Sept. 28 at the Keyser South End Park.   

The race is set for 8:30 a.m. and begins and ends at the park.  All proceeds from the event will be used for the Burlington Campus School Fund.

Work to close I-68 ramp overnight

CUMBERLAND — The westbound Interstate 68 on-ramp from Centre Street and Harrison Street will be closed beginning 8 p.m. Sept. 8 to erect new light poles on brackets. The ramp will reopen by 6 a.m. the next day. Detour signs will be in place.

In addition, there will be a right lane closure on westbound I-68 between Exits 43D and 43A during the same time period.
