Parade to change traffic pattern
CUMBERLAND — Several streets in South Cumberland will be closed during the 64th annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 23. The parade begins at 7 p.m.; however, street closures and detours will be in place prior to the start of the event.
All formation areas and streets and alleys leading to them will be closed at 5:30 p.m.: Virginia Avenue, East First Street from Virginia Avenue to Wempe Drive, South Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Seymour Street, Grand Avenue, East Second Street and East Third Street.
Only buses carrying students and vehicles participating in the parade may move on these streets. No parking will be allowed after 4 p.m. parade night. Race Street will remain open as an emergency route.
Virginia Avenue, to include the Industrial Boulevard intersection, will be closed at 6:30 p.m. with the shut down of Industrial Boulevard at Blackiston Avenue occurring at 7 p.m. Messick Road can be used to reach Interstate 68 and Blackiston Avenue will detour around the parade formation areas.
Delays at Headsville Bridge to begin
HEADSVILLE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Highways announces upcoming delays on Fountain-Headsville Road at the Headsville Bridge project, beginning as early as Oct. 21.
The contractor will complete the approach fill at the first abutment of the bridge.
Motorists can expect to wait up to 15 minutes while this embankment is placed across the road. Work is anticipated to be finished by the end of the week.
Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic.
World War II vets to be honored Sunday
FROSTBURG — An event with World War II veterans Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at Frostburg Heights Apartments will remember and honor all World War II veterans.
