Clerk at LaVale gas station robbed at knifepoint

Suspect runs from business after taking cash, police say

— LAVALE — A knife-wielding man robbed a clerk at the Kwik and EZ Gas Station in the 14300 block of National Highway on Wednesday night. There were no injuries, Maryland State Police said.

The suspect entered the business at 8:41 p.m, displayed a knife and demanded money.

After being given an undisclosed sum of money, he ran and was last seen headed westbound toward Frostburg.

The Maryland State Police Trooper 5 helicopter, state police K-9 units and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect was said to be a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with short hair and sideburns.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed in ripped blue jeans, a white long-sleeved shirt, a camouflage hat and carrying a black backpack, police said.
