CUMBERLAND — An unidentified suspect broke into the YMCA on Kelly Road, stole an agency van and was apprehended hours later in Bedford County, Pa., after the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run incident, according to Cumberland Police.
The burglary was discovered shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Several items of value were stolen along with the 2000 model Chrysler van that was taken from the property, police said.
Access into the building was reportedly made by prying open a side window of the agency, police said.
Cumberland Police said the YMCA was notified on Wednesday that the stolen van was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Bedford and that the driver of the van was apprehended.
“A suspect has been developed and charges in Maryland are pending,” said a city police spokesman.
No details about the matter were available from Pennsylvania State Police at Bedford early Friday afternoon.
