Frank W. Smith running for sheriff of Mineral County

For the Cumberland Times-News

Editor's note: Frank Smith submitted this announcement of his candidacy.

KEYSER, W.Va. - I am Frank W. Smith and I am a candidate for sheriff of Mineral County.

To the people of Mineral County, you need to be aware that first and foremost the sheriff is the treasurer of the county. Therefore, the majority of the sheriff's time needs to be spent in managing the Sheriff's Department.

The highly trained deputies represent the law enforcement branch of the Sheriff's Department. I pledge, if elected, to have better patrol in Carpendale, Ridgeley, Wiley Ford, Piedmont and Elk Garden. I also pledge to do my best to start a Block Watch and a program Grandparents Against Drugs.

The sheriff of Mineral County needs no special training. He is an elected official by the people of Mineral County. I am just a common guy who feels that our county needs a change.

I am asking for your support and votes in the primary election. As an elected official, I will do my best to serve you, the people.

Again, thank you for your support.
