KEYSER, W.Va. - The last day to register to vote, change your party or make an address change for the May 13 West Virginia primary election is Tuesday, according to Mineral County Clerk Lauren Ellifritz.
Forms for any of those actions may be downloaded from the West Virginia Secretary of State's Web site at www.wvsos.com or www. wvvotes.com or they may be obtained from the county clerk's office at 150 Armstrong St.
Forms for voters in Grant, Hampshire or Hardy counties are available in their county clerks' offices.
Voters may check their registration status at www. wvvotes.com or by contacting the clerk's office at (304) 788-3924.
Residents must be a registered voter and must vote in the precinct where they live in order for their vote to count.
Absentee ballot requests are available for people who either cannot vote on election day or will not be able to vote during the statewide early voting period scheduled for April 23 to May 10.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is May 7, but voters are being urged to request them as soon as possible to ensure that they will be received by the clerk's office in time.
Absentee ballot applications are available at the clerk's office or the Secretary of State's Web site.
Early voting will begin April 23 and will be held in Mineral County in the county commission room located on the southeast corner of the courthouse, on the first floor.
Voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The courthouse will be open for voting on two Saturdays, May 3 and 10.
