CUMBERLAND — The Maryland Class 1A football state championship game will be a battle of unbeatens, as Fort Hill (13-0) will square off against Douglass (13-0), of Baltimore, for all the marbles on Saturday.
Kickoff will be at noon at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
Coach Todd Appel’s Sentinels improved their record to 13-0 with a third straight playoff rout on Friday evening, 42-0 over Surrattsville.
Douglass also moved its record to 13-0 with an easy win, on Saturday, 54-13 over Cambridge-South Dorchester.
The Sentinels are the No. 2 seed in the state tournament and the West Region champions. They have won their three postseason games — over Surrattsville, North Carroll and Manchester Valley — by a combined 137-13 score.
Douglass is the No. 1 seed and the South Region champion. The Ducks have outscored their three playoff opponents — Cambridge-South Dorchester, Edmonson and W.E.B. DuBois — by a 142-27 margin, although the Edmonson win was 20-14 in two overtimes.
