Poling, Patriots slam Steelers

— KEYSER, W.Va. — Brayden Poling scored four touchdowns, booted four extra points and had a team- high eight tackles to lead the Personal Best/Hartley’s Pizza Patriots to a 54-7 win over the Keyser Steelers in CAYFL Division I play Sunday at Keyser High School.

The Patriots (5-0) put it away early with a 22-point first quarter and led 40-0 at halftime.

Poling had touchdown runs of 58, 44 and 36 yards and caught a pass from Logan Johnson and turned it into a 55-yard score. Luke Hamilton had a 14-yard run, Kaleb Harden a four-yard run and Logan Johnson a one-yard dive for the other Patriots touchdowns.

Brady Ours scored for Keyser (3-2) on a 48-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Poling finished with four carries and 150 yards and Hamilton ran five times for 65 yards. Cody Yecench, Braeden Smith, Brandon Clark and Keegan Miller excelled on the offensive line.

Poling and Hamilton had eight tackles and Harden and Colton Wilhelm six to lead the Patriots defense. Braeden Smith had three interceptions and Hamilton one.

Brady Ours and Daidai Garland stood out for Keyser.

The Patriots also won the Division II game, 34-7.

Wyatt Brehm ran 40 yards for the first score. Followed by Davian Little from 53 yards, Walker Appel for 40, Jayden Stubbs 45 yards and 55 yards for Braeden Askins.

The Patriots play at Morgantown on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Trinity High School. Keyser will take on the Miners on Saturday at Westmar at 2 p.m.

The Patriots Division II team will host a charity flag football game with the Special Olympic Wildcats team at Greenway Avenue Stadium Sunday at 2 p.m.

OAKLAND — Alec Horner charged for 111 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Oakland Rams in a 24-0 win over the Frosburg Miners at Oakland Saturday.

Horner’s touchdown was on a 50-yard scamper. He also kicked the PAT.

The Rams first score was on a Nick Shroyer tackle in the end zone for a safety. Ian DeWitt ran in from 26 yards out and Brad Davis had a 21-yard score.

Declan Horner rushed for 104 yards to lead the Rams to a 20-0 win in the Division II game.

Nate Tasker, Brandon Mersing and Brandon Lucas each scored on runs from inside the 10-yard line.

Brekale Washington had an interception. Horner and Jade Guy also stood out defensively in the win.

Northern Steelers    33

Morgantown Lions    0

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jordan Day reeled off 110 yards on seven carries for the Northern Steelers in a 33-0 win at Morgantown Saturday.

Day scored from 34 yards in the first quarter and 65 yards in the third.

Ty Kinzey added a three-yard score. Sam Beeman ran in from 15 yards and Lance Smith added a 64-yard scamper.

Logan McClintock, Bailey Umbel and Garrett Beaulieu stood out defensively in the win as did Ben Gribble and Andrew Mason for Morgantown.

Northern (2-3) plays at Ridgeley Saturday.

RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Logan Crock scored both of the Rams touchdowns in a win against Braddock at Ridgeley Saturday.

Crock threw for 85 yards as well.

Rashad Wingate caught a 50-yard pass from Jackson Bauer for the Warriors’ score.

Caleb Hare led the Rams with 56 rushing yards. Drew Mauzy, Dalton pollock and Tavon Swick played well defensively in the win.
