Eight Patriots score in 53-6 rout over Lions

— CUMBERLAND — The Personal Best Patriots jumped to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and went from there in defeating the Morgantown Lions, 53-6, in Cumberland Area Youth Football League action at Allegany College of Maryland.

Eight different Patriots scored touchdowns — Brayden Polling on a 25-yard run, Brandon Clark on a 58-yard punt return, Braeden Smith on a 50-yard pass from Logan Johnson, Luke Hamilton on a 62-yard run, Keegan Miller on a 38-yard pass from Johnson, Jayden Hoover on a 60-yard run, Cody Yasinich on a 1-yard run and Cameron Howard on a 9-yard run.

Polling, Hamilton, Kaleb Harden and Hoover all rushed for 85 yards. Johnson was 7-for-8 passing for 160 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots play Sunday, 2 p.m., at Allegany College against the Braddock Warriors.

RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Tyler Durst led the Northern Steelers defense with 11 tackles in a victory over the Ridgeley Rams on Sunday.

Bryce Jones and Tristan Hobel also played well defensively in the shutout.

Both Steeler touchdowns came in the second quarter on a 3-yard run from Sam Beeman and a 32-yard interception return by Jordan Day. Beeman totalled 61 yards on 14 carries.

Tanner Long and Garrett Hamilton stood out defensively in the loss.

The Rams used two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away for a 20-7 win in the Division II tilt.

The Steelers led 7-0 after one on a 60-yard scamper from Peyton Carr.

Logan Crock fell in from a yard out to make it 7-6.

Dalton Pollock’s 32-yard run gave Ridgeley their first lead. Chandler Rhodes put it away with a 2-yard plunge.

Northern (3-3) hosts Oakland Sunday and Ridgeley (3-3) plays at Keyser Sunday.

OAKLAND — Ian DeWitt rushed for 173 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Oakland Rams over the Braddock Warriors in Division I play last weekend.

DeWitt scored on runs of 36 and 13 yards, on a 13-yard pass from Alec Horner and on a 65-yard return for touchdown of an interception.

Hayden McLaughlin scored on a 5-yard run for the Rams, while Brad Davis scored on a 1-yard run.

Dalton Rinker, Nick Schroyer, Eli Ward stood out defensively for the Rams.

In the Division II game, Oakland won, 10-0, as the Rams took a 2-0 lead into the fourth quarter when Jacob Schrock recorded a third-quarter safety. In the fourth quarter, Brandon Mersing scored on a 20-yard run and Jordan Rohrbaugh’s kick put the eventual final at 10-0.

Jace Guy, Brandon Lucas, Declan Horner, Jordan Rohrbaugh stood out defensively for the Rams.
