FH hosts Southern

CUMBERLAND — Undefeated Fort Hill will play host to Southern this afternoon, 3 o’clock, at Greenway Avenue Stadium in a Maryland 1A West Region contest.

Fort Hill (6-0) entered the weekend rated No. 1 in the West Region and No. 2 in the entire class to Surrattsville, while Southern is rated No. 6 in the West.

The Sentinels easily defeated Walter Johnson last week in Bethesda, 47-3. Dakarai Darr rushed for 138 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns. Quarterback Hunter Squires completed six passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns.

Southern fell to Petersburg last week, 15-14, with the winning scores for the Vikings coming in the final minutes of the game. Southern took an 8-0 lead in the first half when Seth Kisner scored from 15 yards and then ran the two-point conversion. Dalton Cooper put the Rams ahead 14-8 with a five-yard TD run with 46 seconds left in the first half.

Fort Hill beat Southern last year, 42-6.
