Lowry leads MR over Frankfort

— SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Lucas Lowry returned a kickoff 55 yards for a touchdown, then broke a 90-yard TD run from scrimmage in the fourth quarter to allow the Mountain Ridge freshman to pull away from Frankfort, 29-12, Wednesday at Frankfort.

Michael Livingston also scored twice for the Miners on runs of 38 and 54 yards. Quarterback Jacob Kessel led Frankfort with touchdown runs of eight and one yard. Jacob Kessel scored on a one-yard run to open the fourth quarter to bring the Falcons to within 15-12 before Lowry put the game away for the Miners.

Defensive standouts for Mountain Ridge were Brent Schofield and Hayden Lindsey.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Darrian King rushed for 63 yards and Bryson Shepherd scored two touchdowns as Allegany manhandled Berkeley Springs on the Indians field Thursday.

King started the scoring with a 50-yard run in the three-touchdown first quarter. Brendan Dougherty scored on a 23-yard run before Shepherd went over from the one.

After an eight-yard touchdown pass from Carson Imes to Brenten Miller, Shepherd returned an interception 41 yards to give the Campers a 32-0 halftime lead.

Brad Winter’s six-yard run was the only scoring in the second half.

Defensively, Dougherty had two intercepions and Imes one.

Allegany (4-1) hosts the Hampshire junior varsity Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
