WMHS Foundation Golf Classic held Friday

FLINTSTONE — The GKV team won the gross division in play at Rocky Gap, and the Chessie Federal Credit Union team won the gross division title at the Cumberland Country Club in the Western Maryland Health System Foundation Golf Classic, a 48-team event held at the two local golf courses on Friday.

• At Rocky Gap, the GKV team of Kevin Kempske, Jason Knapp, Brian Burkhart and Chris Smith won with a score of 59 at Rocky Gap. Second place, winning in a cardoff with a 64, was the Barton Malow team of John Cirrincione, Bob Wyatt, Rolf Haarstad and Andy Beeman. Third went to the Rocky Gap team of Mark Jewell, Scott Perrin, Sean Franklin and Karen Graham.

In the net division, the Hord Coplan Macht team of Tim Barnill, Brian Kuebler, Nick Nucci and Brian Gobell won first place in a cardoff with a 55. Second went to the McKamish team of Bill Taylor, Mike Drecnik, Dave Lyon and Don Christoff. Third, with a 57, was the Degol Carpet team of Mickey Meredith, Mike McCullough, David Degol and Dan Utley.

Pin winners were Dr. Scott Friedman on No. 4 and No. 17, Tom Brown on No. 6, Tony Nastasi on No. 12, and Troy Van Meter on No. 16. The straightest drive on No. 8 went to Jeff O’Neal, and the longest drive on No. 11 was by Nucci.

• At Cumberland, the Chessie team of Doc Daugherty, Bill Bond, Brett Davis and Randy Whitacre won with a 57. Second place went to the Wells Fargo team of Steve Stroup, David Wertz, John Whitmore and Adam Ritchey with a 57, and the Document Solutions team of Greg Hare, Sean Diamond, Terry Snider and Drew Ingram placed third with a 59.

The R.H. Lapp & Sons team of George Lapp, Jim Donahue, Jonas Malone and Bryan Marker won net play with a 53. The Landis Office Center team of Rick McKenzie, Jeff McKenzie, Todd McKenzie and Russell Clouden was second with a 56, and the Schwab team of Tadd Schwab, Sandy Schwab, Bob Garner and Marsha Garner took third, also with a 56.

The winning ladies team, in a card-off, was the Aircon Engineering team of Marion Leonard, Marcia Zanger, Susan Scarpelli and Joyce Lapp. The runner-up was the Prospective Payment Specialists team of Kelly Borsuk, Roslyn Balch, Janice Hare, Jill Frank.

Pin winners Tadd Schwab on No. 1, Ingram on No. 6, Kelly Borsuk on No. 10, Fred Sharer on No. 12, 15 Clarence Harris on No. 15 and Jonas Malone.

The straightest drive went to Snider on No. 14 and the longest drive was by Clouden on No. 8.

The putting contest winner was the First United team of Ed Lease, Bucky Butts, Butchy Blank and George Young, and The Document Solutions game winners were Mike Robinson, Clarence Harris, Randy Whitacre and George Young.

Proceeds from the event support the new WMHS Regional Medical Center, scheduled to open Nov. 21.
