East Hardy sweeps Ty Valley

BAKER — Molly Look fired a one-hitter in the first game and then combined with Ashley Dove to drive in seven runs, leading East Hardy to a sweep over Tygarts Valley Friday at East Hardy High School.
Both games were stopped in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule. Look shut down Tygarts Valley in the 11-0 opener by striking out six and allowing one hit and a walk.
Dove belted two doubles driving in two runs and catcher Emily Biller had a three-run double in the six-run fifth inning. The Cougars finished with eight hits.
In the second game, Dove had four of the Cougars’ 10 hits in their 16-5 victory. She drove in four runs off of her four singles and scored twice herself. Look was 1-for-2 but scored three runs and drove in three with a double.
Brittany Perkins pitched four innings allowing five runs, four hits and two walks in getting the win. Tygarts Valley’s Ciara Riggleman blasted a three-run home run in the first inning that gave TV the lead. She was 3-for-3 with a triple and a base hit.
East Hardy, trailing 3-2 going into the bottom of the third, put the game out of reach with 10 runs in the inning and scored four more in the fourth.
The Cougars (4-0) visit Massanutten Military Academy for a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Tygarts Valley visits Pendleton Monday.
